Selamat pagi mbak Ujie,

Sekedar berbagi cerita bahagia ke mbak Ujie.  

Beberapa bulan yang lalu saya pernah mengirim imel ke mbak Ujie tentang pelatihan guru yoga di Bandung.   Sesuai petunjuk mbak Ujie, bahwa lebih baik bila tidak dalam kondisi hamil pada saat pelatihan, maka saya urungkan niat ini. 

Berkat doa mbak Ujie, saya saat ini hamil 14 minggu.  
Berbekal buku karangan mbak Ujie tentang Yoga kehamilan, saya berlatih sendiri.   CD Manfaat yang dirasakan sangat banyak! 
Bila saya tidak latihan di pagi hari, maka sepanjang hari akan terasa sangat tidak bergairah, tidak bersemangat....

oh, benar kata mbak Ujie, teman2 yang saat ini juga hamil semua berpikir bahwa saat hamil = tidak boleh olahraga...
saya sudah menunjukkan buku mbak Ujie, dan sepertinya mereka mulai tertarik :)  apalagi ada CD yang menyontohkan gerakan-gerakan yang sebaiknya dilakukan :)

mbak, kalau akan ada kelas yoga untuk bumil di jakart, tolong info yaaah....

mohon doa mbak Ujie agar semua proses kehamilan dan kelahiran ya....

When I first arrived in Bandung to be a teacher in Unpad for one semester I found myself in a difficult new situation. I did not speak the language, I didn’t know Indonesian manners or culture and with my blonde hair I looked different from everyone else. I was going to teach large classes in University and had never done it before. Soon it started to take courage to leave the house because I knew wherever I go: all eyes would be on me.Coming from Catholic Germany to Muslim Bandung I didn’t know how to behave right.

I had practiced AshtangaYoga before but with Yoga Leaf it was my first time to practice Hatha Yoga. The teachers were very helpful; they gave me instructions in English until I understood Indonesian well enough. They were interested in my personal access and use of Yoga and taught me not only the poses but also meditation and philosophy.

My teachers were Ujie, Indri and Santi. Each of them showed me a different aspect of my new yoga practice. Ujie taught me how to meditate in a very easy way and her constantly changing classes gave me many inspirations for my individual practice at home. She was also the one to ask about questions of philosophy. Indris class helped me become aware of my emotions and control them. Santis class was especially useful for me: each time I took her class I seemed to grow a little taller, a little more confident and proud. I learned to hold my head high. My better body posture helped me get through difficult situations with pride and a smile on my face.

Through time not only yoga practice grew easier but all aspects of my life seemed more successful. I made great progress in swimming and surfing. I felt less sore after travelling long. And after four months in Bandung I had achieved a lot of things:After being a student myself I now taught large groups of students in Unpad, I spoke Indonesian, found my way travelling alone through Bandung and Indonesia. I still didn’t know how to behave in an Indonesian way most of the time but a friendly and confident attitude had proved successful in mostly all situations. I had gone through cultural shock, heartbreak, disease and overcrowdedangkots with a deep breath and a smile. I felt strong and proud and happy.

Now that I don’t live in Bandung any more I still use the practice I learned at Yoga Leaf daily. Even in my home Germany, where I look like everyone else, I speak the language and I do know how to behave right: life is easier with a strong body and a mind at ease.

Great teaching!
After 3 times I took the class it seems get more enjoyable, but I still very hard to do the posture, especially when I have to lean back while the thigh is folded, and I always trembling when doing some posture that requires a balance and stretch the muscles. Please tell me how to do it even more comfortable. Thx a lot

Ujie, Just want to thanks for a great class in Bandung and for the workshop in Surabaya. I learnt loads and loads at both. You have a great skill of spreading your energy and enthusiasm to all around you. Thanks for the inspiration. Hope I'll be in one of your classes again soon. Ian

Being taught by Ujie is an excellent way to learn yoga. Not only does she teach the movements and poses well, but as a real guru she also checks her students frequently AND she explains all the WHY's and verifies understanding of her students. As a teacher at Bandung International School I highly appreciate and recommend my guru besar!

I'm happy that I got my first experience with yoga in Ujie's sessions. Her approach is very personal, she's always interested in my needs and expectations and offers a valuable feedback (including giving a session in English since my Indonesia is still so basic). I feel she's my friend, not mere instructor. And what more, after two and half months I can already touch the ground with my palms having my legs stretched! :)

Dear Ujie
Thank you for all your yoga lessons at Bandung International School. I really enjoyed them and found a new way to relax. Yoga was a new experience for me and had enriched my life in several ways. Mary gave your book as a farewell present to me and I love to show it to my friends and family.

Thanks banget tuk doa dan bimbinganmu, (tanpa mengurangi rasa hormat saya terhadap guru-guru yoga saya sebelumnya) tapi baru ketika berlatih bersama mbak Ujie saya tahu dan akhirnya dapat melakukan pose berdiri secara "tepat"(jari2 kaki megar dan mencengram lantai dengan kokoh)(kayaknya dgn diperbaikinya pose berdiriku, ini telah membuat diriku dalam keseharianku semakin seimbang lho), thanks udah begitu teliti mengawasi dan membenahi posture ku, terus mbak dikau pantas deh disebut guru yoga luar dalam (dikau masih mau menyediakan waktu di luar kelas untuk dengerin curhatan murid salah satunya diriku hehehe...), thanks banget ya mbak Ujie karena udah dengan sabar mau angkat telponku malam-malam waktu aku ketakutan dengar sesuatu jatuh di atap rumahku, thanks banget mbak udah hadir dalam perjalananku kali ini, you deserve deh disebut "the real" guru yoga, hehehe.....
Kesimpulan berlatih (hatha) yoga di Yoga Leaf dengan bimbingan mbak Ujie benar benar merupakan satu pengalaman yang berharga dan berkat TYME untuk ku,dan semoga tetap dapat dipertahankan apa yang sudah baik bahkan mungkin terus menerus ditingkatkan yang sudah baik itu sehingga akan semakin banyak lagi orang yang terbimbing,

Tahun lalu saya mengikuti workshop untuk guru bahasa Inggris. Pada sesi diskusi temen di sebelah saya nunjuk ke arah seorang wanita. Terus dia bilang "Aku iri sama
ibu itu. Dia keliatannya cantik sekali". Ya, memang wanita yang dia bilang ibu itu emang udah ibu-ibu. Kurang lebih 50 tahun ke ataslah. Pas saya liat memang there's something about her that makes girls in their twenties feel jealous. Setelah saya amat-amati ibu itu trus saya bandingin ama temen saya ya juga keliatan bedanya.
Wajah mungkin ga bisa bohong kalo ibu itu lebih tua dari temen saya. Tapi ada sesuatu yang membuat temen saya jadi less young dibanding ibu itu. Saya pikir kata yang tepat adalah vibrant. That middle age woman looked more vibrant, young and in
the end of course more beautiful than my friend (^o^)

Pada saat lunchbreak kebetulan saya duduk di sebelah ibu itu dan dapet kesempatan ngobrol2. Usut punya usut ibu itu mengaku kalau dia punya diabetes. Tapi dia keliatan tenang dan ga kisruh (^-^). Tambah penasaran kok punya penyakit tapi ga stres dan murung malah keliatan bugar dan ya itu..vibrant. Semakin dalem obrolan kita jadi tahu ternyata sudah beberapa tahun ibu itu ikut yoga beberapa kali seminggu. Saya dan temen-temen saling berpandangan
"jadi itu ternyata resepnya". Sejak itu saya jadi pengen banget ikutan yoga.

Sebenernya sebelum ketemu ibu itu saya sudah ingin ikut yoga karena ga suka aerobik (nafas suka sesek kalo lari jauh atau loncat-loncat he he). Sampe beli bukunya segala cuman ga tahu gimana caranya. Jadilah buku itu useless ga kepake.

Di workshop itu, ibu yang vibrant itu memberitahu satu tempat dimana kita beryoga. Dikarenakan kesibukan baru deh berbulan-bulan kemudian bisa nemuin tempat yang direkomendasikannya.

Pertama-tama ga berani sering-sering. Paling seminggu sekali..trus lama-lama jadi ketagihan nihh he he (^o^). Sekarang yoga minimal 3 kali seminggu. Pilek-pilek plus batuk-batuk juga tetap beryoga sambil uhuk-uhuk.. Maaf buat yang lain <m(_ _)m>,
moga-moga ga nularin. Tapi mau ngelewatin kelas yoga sayang banget..Tambah lama yoga semakin menarik.

For me now, yoga is a must. Walaupun belum keliatan banget, yoga sedikit-sedikit ngebantu saya ngatasin masalah kesehatan juga masalah kejenuhan dan stres karena ngajar. Apalagi kalo murid saya ga bisa-bisa aduuuh bisa pusing mikiran caranya supaya mereka bisa..(^-^) So I believe yoga leads us to heal and maintain ourselves both physically and spiritually. Yoga is more than just physical exercises. It is spiritual. Therefore, I find, without belittling other forms of exercise, yoga more fulfilling.

Asana yang saya lakukan masih jauh dari bagus he..he apalagi kalo savasana susah banget ngejaga pikiran supaya ga jalan-jalan. Tapi saya nikmatin banget proses pembelajaran ini. We are all learning after all and the process of learning is the most important of all, ya kan?

Buat Mba Ujie, makasih banget _(_ _)_ atas banyak pelajarannya. Arigato gozaimasu, thank you very much, merci beaucoup. Ngajarnya enak banget dan ga membuat malu kalo
asana saya look funny hi hi hi! Paling seneng kalo Mba Ujie bilang "Saya kuat, saya berani". Perasaan jadi lebih confident, lebih determined (soalnya gampang banget ilang kepedean hi hi). Keep up the good work! semoga cita-cita ngadain kelas yoga yang terjangkau kesampean \(^o^)/ Ganbatte ne Ujie-sensei!

Dari duluuu banget, saya pengen belajar yoga gara2 baca di majalah2 katanya yoga bisa bikin tubuh bugar, pikiran tenang, dll. Tapi saya jadi tambah tertarik waktu lagi baca sebuah novel. Di situ diceritakan, si tokoh (wanita) ditahan di sebuah lubang sempit, pengap, lembab. Pokoknya layaknya di kuburan deh (apa iya??). Tapi, yang menakjubkan, dia ternyata bisa bertahan hidup selama beberapa hari, tanpa makan dan minum!!! Gile cing! Usut punya usut, ternyata doi seorang yogi!!!! Wah, hebat banget, pikir saya waktu itu. Jadi tambah pengen belajar yoga...

Tapi sayang di kota tempat saya tinggal dulu saya tidak berhasil menemukan tempat belajar yoga (kuper aja, kali y..:)). Ditambah pula saya masih kuliah, dan harus pergi-pulang naik kereta tiap hari.

Setelah pindah ke Bandung dan bekerja, boro-boro sempet mikirin olah tubuh. Aktivitas sehari-hari aja dah makan waktu hampir 2/3 hari. Yah, risiko jadi wanita pekerja...cieee

2 tahun yang lalu, seorang teman ngasih kartu nama berbentuk daun, warna ijo, lucuuu deh... Katanya, kalo mo blajar yoga, ama mbak yg namanya ada di kartu aja. Dijamin asiiik. Waktu itu saya, iya-iya aja. Abis, waktunya g ada j...

Stlh resign bbrp wkt yll, kbeneran saya nemu iklan OtG. Maenlah saya ke sana, nanya2, mpe akhirnya tertarik ikutan.

Eh, ternyata oh ternyata,hari pertama dateng langsung 'terjun', bengkokin badan begini-begitu. Saya yg baru pertama kali ikutan sempet bengong diawalnya. Dalam ati ngomong "Aduh, gw kan dah lama g gerakin badan. Otot pasti pada kakuuu banget..."
Tapi saya ikutin j, mengaliiiir (sori mbak, pinjem istilahnya :-)),
mpe akhirnya beres jg satu sesi...G kerasa. Tp, lho,lho, badan saya kok seger y???

Pas mo pulang eh, si suhu nyamperin saya, nanya2. Baru tau klo nama si guru yg cantik ini (ehm..) "Ujie".
Triiiing, otak saya langsung bekerja, inget ke kartu nama berbentuk daun tea... Wah, jangan2 ni dia guru yoga yg di-recommend ma temen saya dulu... Tp sy g sempet nanya krn buru2 pulang...

Akhirnya, bbrp minggu yll saya baru sempet nanya k mbak Uj..Eh, ternyata bener, doilah orangnya!!! Hehe...

Y, udah deh. Saya bersyukur bisa ikutan kelas mbak Uj. Setelah hampir 2 bulan belajar yoga ma Mbak Uj, otot2 saya makin kencang, tubuh lebih lentur, dan yang paling penting, pikiran jadi tenang n mulai bisa mengontrol emosi(saya orangnya sensi banget, gampang nangis, hixs, hixs). Saya juga jadi termotivasi lg mengejar cita2 saya yg sempet saya abaikan...

Saya inget pesen Mbak Uj:
"Don't let go off your dreams, find out who u really r n what u really need..."

Sekarang, hari-hari saya diisi dengan yoga, yoga, yoga...

Hasil dari berlatih postur2 yoga selama hampir 4 bulan, benar2 menakjubkan. Tubuh saya yg tadinya kaku kaya papan, bisa jadi fleksibel. Sesuatu yg tadinya saya pikir mustahil :-P
Thanks to Mba Ujie, yg melalui program2 latihannya (yg sangat variatif), secara step by step telah meningkatkan kelenturan dan kekuatan tubuh saya. Saya dapat merasakan kemajuan setiap kali ikut kelas. You are a great and inspiring teacher :)
Yoga is amazing.... you can definitely feel the benefit.

Saya belum begitu lama ikut kelasnya Mbak Ujie, namun penjelasan yg diberikan saat latihan membuat saya lbh paham lg apa itu yoga. Rupanya yoga tidak hanya sekedar olah tubuh. Saya mendapat banyak manfaat dari yoga asanas ini. Gerakannya yang halus dan lembut dengan pernafasan yang dalam dan teratur langsung terasa memberikan efek yg menenangkan & menyegarkan. Maju terus mbak Ujie... semoga lebih banyak lagi orang2 yg bisa dapat manfaat dari yoga, lebih sehat lagi secara fisik, mental, emosional & spiritual. Sukses ya mbak...

Belajar yoga ama Mbak Ujie.. asyik bangee..t. pokoknya ampe dibela belain kabur dari kerjaan deh untuk ga telat dateng yoganya. Bergabung dengan yoga leaf bener-bener beda dengan konsep yoga yang sempet saya ketahui sebelumnya. Membuat qta lebih tenang, dan menghargai diri kita sendiri. Sayangnya sekarang gak boleh bolos kerja lagi so Mbak Ujie.. minta jadwal kelas advance yang sore/ malem dong? kalo bisa yang di setra dago:)) Sukses selalu ya Mbak Ujie..

Mhh.......Yoga asik banget. malah gara2 asiknya gw sampe sering ketiduran gara-gara begitu menghayatinya...hehehe:) tapi yang jelas, gw dapat banyak banget dari yoga.mulai dari ketenangan, ngendaliin pernafasan sama pikiran juga olahraga yang sehat dan meyenangkan......uah....keren deh.... pertama kali ke yogaleaf n ketemu mba uji, mba uji tuh kliatan beda gitu...auranya terlihat menyejukkan banget.apalagi tenyata orangnya baek banget.....pokoknya gw jadi jatuh cinta ama yoga......

My name is Fani, and im 27 years old and married. I?m a quite devout Moslem. I join swarga yoga class for about 3 month now. To tell u the truth, i have a very unstable emotion, and as a consequences, unbalanced hormones. i could laugh at a certain time, and cry at the next minutes, and then leap to joyful at the next hour. I'm very tired with it. it consumes a lot of energy expressing too much emotion at a short time. After reading here and there, i conclude that my solution is Yoga.

Why? Because yoga offers mind-body and soul control, with just a relative simple exercise.

Because there are so rare yoga class and master at Bandung, I failed to attain one, and I give up to search yoga class. I buy yoga books and do that at home instead. Then I had a miscarriages. I forbade to exercise with too much jumping and stomach straining, nor too exhausting. I became a little overweight after that. One day I meet ms Uji, and she is offering a yoga class at swarga.

Well what do you know! Like thirst meet drink. So i join her class at Swarga. At first class I feel so invigorating, yet relaxed. Its wonderful! Doing that with your own and with a master is so different. And at the first month, I attain a more balanced emotion and my hormones gone quite good. No more cold sweat and no more running heart beat.

At the second month, my body is quite changed, its not my aim, but I get a dropped body weight. I lose my weight about 5 kilos. And now its 6 kilos. For married woman, I ensure you that Yoga is the best for gaining a healthier and better marriage life. You know what I mean right?

Now I practices Asanas and meditation at home. I feel my mind-body-soul constitution is getting better and better. For one who afraid meditation, let me tell u that its ok. To meditate is not to worshipped other God, it just calling our God with a different _expression. Its like praying with non-arabic languages. If you still feels uneasy with the mantra, I recommend you to call Hu/Huwa instead of Om inside the meditation. Huwa is Allah?s other names in sufistic terminology, and have the same place in the mouth/throat with Om. For your information, I understand Islam more with Yoga. Just open your mind and search for the similarity. You will find much!
